*Note: Students will not be able to see their SimUText assignments until you have created the assignments on your Instructor Platform.
If your school does not currently have an integration agreement with SimBio, please start by reading Initiate a Canvas Integration with SimBio Active Learning System®. If your school does have an integration agreement and your LMS admin has confirmed that they have installed the application, you may proceed to follow these instructions.
*Be aware, we do not yet have deep linking so an additional Assignment called Scores ["Assignment Name"] will be added to your Assignment List when you push scores to Canvas.

First create your first Assignment that will require the SimBio Active Learning System. We highly recommend using the same name for the Assignment in Canvas that you use in the SimBio Active Learning System. This will reduce student confusion. The Assignment can stand alone or be within a Module.

In the Assignment editor, after naming the Assignment and adding any description necessary, scroll down to the "Submission Type" and use the dropdown to select "External Tool".

On the next overlay that opens, you will want to make sure that "Load this Tool in a New Tab" is selected. Then click on "Find."

You should see "SimBio Active Learning System" as an option. If not, please contact your LMS administrator. Click Select.

You should see a URL pop up that has "simbioactivelearning" as part of it. Again, make sure that "Load this Tool in a New Tab" is selected.

Then you can set your dates for the Assignment in Canvas. Here as well, having the dates match what you put in the SimBio Active Learning System will reduce confusion for students. Then click "Save & Publish."

You will then need to go to the Assignment you just created and click on it to open it.
- After it opens, Click on "Load [Assignment Name] in a new window."
- A new window will open and you will be inside the SimBio Active Learning System. You will need your SimUText key for this step. You will have received it in an email from SimBio or you can find it by logging into your Instructor Platform and going to the "Student Roster and Registration" page.
- The page that opens in the new window will look like the screenshot below. Enter your SimUText key that you located in Step 9.
- Click submit and you will see a Success page.

When you click "Confirm", you should land on a page that confirms that you have attached your Course to the correct SimUText. If you encounter any difficulty, do not hesitate to contact us: Instructor Support Request Form
